People, design, supply, demand

Funny how my life has evolved to be a balance between working to earn great work (demand), and working to earn great people (supply). As with most scales, as one end goes up, the other goes down. People Design is a balancing act.

We’ve played our cards right – and are lucky – to be busy in these difficult times, and are looking for great people. Diana came up with the brilliant idea of asking candidates to give us “fifty words describing why you’d be a good fit” for our firm. What I like about it – besides the obvious desire for people to express why they might work for us rather than sending resume spam – is that it’s an opportunity for the person to differentiate themselves and express their personality.

Here is a recent example we received from an eager job seeker, Joshua Best.
