Metrics of a better experience

This past Wednesday, several of us attended a presentation by Michal Lorenc of Google, sponsored by AimWest. It was pretty high level, so while it was nice to hear what they’re doing from the source, we hoped for more depth. Of particular interest was the rapidly evolving Google Apps which we are exploring for our clients, and for our own use. Here’s what caught my ear: Lorenc mentioned that Apple’s iPhone has 2-3% of the web-browsing cell phone market, but accounts for about 30% of web-browsing cell phone traffic (at least on Google). To me, this proves the impact a better user experience can yield. Here, a better experience — cell phone web browsing — amplifed iPhone’s web browsing popularity 10 times over its market share. Not bad.
