Launch party

We formally launched People Design Inc on November 1, 2007, with a party for clients and friends at the brand new Grand Rapids Art Museum.

It seemed like a great place to hold the event since we had been working with the museum on their new identity, promotions, signage, and website — and because it’s right down the street from our office. We had a wonderful turnout with more than 200 people crowding into the main hall. The building, designed by Kulapat Yantrasast of wHY Architecture is spacious and light, and comfortably filled with music, food, wine, and good conversation. We’ve gotten some local press about the event, which is always nice. I have another interview on Monday. The People Design team did a wonderful job getting it together, timing the delivery of our new business cards and a self-published little book we called Becoming People Design:

The book is a 200-page, 10-year retrospective of work, artifacts, and highlights of our firm’s growth and evolution to become People Design. We would love to send you a copy. Just contact us. We also put an interactive installation together that captured pictures of people’s faces with a digital camera, sliced them up and pasted them back together, projecting the collage onto a 10-foot screen in the middle of the hall. It seemed like just the right spice for the evening. We plan to post the resulting movie online soon.
